Sheena has completed an Integrated Assessment and Treatment of the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) course, increasing her knowledge and skills working with pain and/or dysfunction associated with the TMJ.

TMJ dysfunction causes varying degrees of pain and malfunctioning of one or both jaw joints. Some signs and symptoms of TMJ dysfunction are:

clicking, popping or misalignment of the joint

jaw pain/tenderness

pain felt in the teeth

limited range of motion of the jaw

In addition to problems with the jaw, it frequently resulting in other problems with ears, neck and shoulders. Massage Therapy can be an effective treatment for these by reducing pain, muscle tension, spasm, swelling and increasing ease of movement.

If you are experiencing pain/dysfunction with your TMJ, please contact one of our massage therapists for treatment options.
